Unruly passengers causing havoc on some flights

Unruly passengers causing havoc on some flights

By Kelly Yamanouchi, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Troy Warren for CNT A survey of nearly 5,000 flight attendants found 85% had dealt with unruly passengers in the first half of this year. According to the Association of Flight Attendants union survey, 17% reported a physical incident and 58% had at least five confrontations with passengers. Mask compliance is the biggest contributor, but alcohol, flight delays and cancellations are also driving the incidents, according to the union. Airlines, including Atlanta-based Delta, have put hundreds of passengers on their no-fly lists for refusal to comply with mask requirements. In one incident in December, a passenger tried to open the…

2021 Mercedes-Benz S580 review: The benchmark once again

Andrew Krok | CNET.Com Troy Warren for CNT Every large luxury car gets compared to the S-Class, and for good reason. Imagine the pressure of making a new Mercedes-Benz S-Class. This car is supposed to be the peak of Everest for buyers who want a full-fat luxury car, and every successive generation should add more to the pile without forgetting its raison d'être, which means there's a lot riding on every new model. All that hard work has paid off, though, because the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is an absolute banger, once again setting the standard for all other luxury cars.…

Minnesota Rice: Twin Cities Chefs Team Up To Combat Racism

By Cinnamon Janzer | FoodAndWine.Com Troy Warren for CNT Asian American chefs are sharing their stories the best way they know how—through food. A year of rising anti-Asian violence came to a head in March when a white man went on a shooting spree across three Atlanta-area spas, ultimately counting six Asian-American women among his victims. "It was something that sent a shock wave through our community," says chef Christina Nguyen of Hai Hai and Hola Arepa. Like the "Minnesota nice" culture that encourages a polite, reserved, and mild-mannered approach to social interactions—especially potentially heated ones—many Asian Americans are similarly conditioned. "For a…

How Cruise Lines Are Handling the Return of Passengers

CLAUDETTE COVEY | TravelPulse.Com Troy Warren for CNT   The general consensus among travel advisors who’ve sailed in recent weeks is that cruise lines are meeting – and in some cases exceeding – passenger expectations. “Everyone I spoke with was just excited to be back on a cruise again. ‘I missed this’ was the common response,” said Chris Caulfield, a CruiseOne franchise owner based in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., who sailed on Royal Caribbean’sFreedom of the Seas from Miami.   “Royal Caribbean was clear about guidelines, so passengers knew before boarding what was expected.” He noted other than adhering to a handful of…

The Iconic Campbell’s Soup Can Is Getting a Redesign for the First Time in 50 Years

By Sarra Sedghi | FoodAndWine.Com Troy Warren for CNT New look, same soup. Product design is engineered to be memorable. If people can't pick out a certain brand at a supermarket, there's not much hope they'll buy it. When a company sticks with a particular design for decades, something about that item feels trustworthy. It's familiar and reliable and has stood the test of time, instead of fading to the clearance rack. It goes without saying Campbell's soup is one such iconic design. Andy Warhol's rendition immortalized the humble label. Holiday commercials with a smiling, melting snowman generate warm memories, too. So it's…
