BY DAVID BEARD | CarAndDriver.Com Troy Warren for CNT It took seven years, but the Ferrari's 2.0-second rip to 60 mph has finally dethroned the Porsche 918 Spyder as the king of acceleration. We tested a 2021 Ferrari SF90 Stradale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and it rocketed to 60 mph in 2.0 seconds and eviscerated the quarter-mile in 9.5 seconds at 148 mph. The 887-hp 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder’s 2.1-second sprint to 60 mph held the title for seven years. The SF90 Stradale starts at $511,250 and is powered by three electric motors and a 769-hp twin-turbo V-8. All champions eventually…

By ArLuther Lee, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Troy Warren for CNT Leader blames 2018 stabbing for intestinal complications Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro left a hospital Sunday after four days of treatment for an unusual case of hiccups that lasted more than 10 days. Bolsonaro had been under care since July 14 after doctors discovered a partial intestinal obstruction and put him on a non-solid diet.  The 66-year-old president did not need surgery. His condition immediately prompted concerns about an attack in 2018 when Bolsonaro was stabbed in the intestines while campaigning. Consumers wait or pay more as businesses wrestle supply chain woes

By Michael E. Kanell, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Troy Warren for CNT Economy’s gears shudder, prices rise as demand rebounds For months, cars were driven sporadically or not at all. So as the economy reopened, when many people grabbed keys and headed out the door to work, shop or visit with friends, an odd thing happened. Nothing. Many vehicles didn’t start. Others badly needed service. And while that is good for a mechanic’s business, it has been bad for getting the parts needed to do the work all at once, said Kevin Keller, a Norcross-based mobile technician for YourMechanic.com. Prices are higher and…

Florida Keys Packed With Tourists, Seeing Record Summer Crowds

Florida Keys Packed With Tourists, Seeing Record Summer Crowds

LAURIE BARATTI | TravelPulse.Com Troy Warren for CNT   Typically, tourism in the Florida Keys is slower during summer months, before the snowbirds arrive, allowing many Floridians to enjoy a close-to-home escape that’s easily accessible, budget-friendly and relaxing—but not this summer. This year, it’s quite a different story for the string of tropical islands scattered off the Sunshine State’s southern tip. Non-local visitors are flocking to the Florida Keys for their post-pandemic domestic vacations, sending hotel rates soaring and creating long lines at landmarks, attractions and restaurants. “Every tourist attraction has a long line,” Boca Raton resident Dara Krauss, who visited Key West and Islamorada…

NATIONAL DAIQUIRI DAY | July 19

Troy Warren for CNT   NATIONAL DAIQUIRI DAY | July 19 Each year on July 19th, people across the United States fill their glasses with a rum-based cocktail and toast to National Daiquiri Day. So, raise your glass and join all of the others in this celebration! Daiquiri is a family of cocktails whose main ingredients are rum, citrus juice (typically lime), and sugar. Tasting of sunshine and beaches, it might be hard to believe how the Daiquiri came to be. Back in 1898, men blasted away in the mines of a small community off the coast of Cuba during…

Toyota Cancels Tokyo Olympics TV Ads, CEO Won’t Attend Opening Ceremony

BY PATRICK BRZESKI | HollywoodReporter.Com Troy Warren for CNT The decision reflects the deep unpopularity of the Tokyo Olympics in the host country of Japan, where residents fear that staging the Games will further fuel a rise in Delta variant COVID-19 infections. Toyota Motor Corp., a top corporate sponsor for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, has decided to pull all of its Olympics-related TV commercials in Japan. Japanese media speculated Monday that the decision was made because the car manufacturer fears association with the troubled Summer Games, which are deeply unpopular in Japan, may tarnish its brand rather than burnish it. “The Olympics…
