Troy Warren for CNT #NFT
Books sound like the perfect NFTs. Writers and the literary industry, including major publishers of books, magazines and newspapers; may feel like a Déjà vu in the making.
That’s because with the internet came a company called Amazon.
And Amazon’s calling card to fame is that it started becoming Amazon by selling books. Today, with Audible and Kindle, it dominates the book sales market by also soliciting independent authors to publish their works directly with Amazon. So, the key question to ponder for book publishers is this: can they use NFTs and possibly claw back audiences to them instead of a giant aggregator like Amazon?
Mark Manson, the author of worldwide bestselling book, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck has chosen to work with an NFT book marketplace to drop his world famous book as NFTs. “I am minting parts of my book — The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck — to the blockchain, fractionalizing it into meaningful pieces and offering a community of book-lovers and Web3 believers the historic opportunity to co-own a piece of it”
As per the project’s website, there will be 1,111 unique quotes from the book, each 1/1 and available to use by the NFT owner under the Creative Commons license. Apart from this, there’s a punch of utility being provided, including an unreleased chapter, a private community of book readers and access to the Subtle Art School.
“This is an historic event for not just myself but for all authors. While other books have been created on the blockchain, this is the first time a major bestseller has been fractionalized and given creative freedom to its fans. I hope it sets the bar for authors who wish to release their work on Web3 going forward”, the author further added.
The opportunity to make it to the whitelist is now open.
