GM warns some Bolt owners to park outdoors due to fire risk

By TOM KRISHER, Associated Press Troy Warren for CNT DETROIT — General Motors is telling owners of some older Chevrolet Bolts to park them outdoors and not to charge them overnight because two of the electric cars caught fire after recall repairs were made. The company said Wednesday the request covers 2017 through 2019 Bolts that were part of a group that was recalled earlier due to fires in the batteries. The latest request comes after two Bolts that had gotten recall repairs caught fire, one in Vermont and the other in New Jersey, GM spokesman Kevin Kelly said. Owners should…

How to Get Rid of Crabgrass and Keep It From Coming Back How to Get Rid of Crabgrass and Keep It From Coming Back

By Kelly Roberson | BHG.Com Troy Warren for CNT   This common weed can quickly take over lawns and garden beds. Have you noticed brown patches appearing in your lawn after autumn's first frost? Those unsightly spots usually aren't caused by disease; they're likely caused by crabgrass when it dies in cold temperatures. This annual grass is a universal problem to homeowners in the U.S. It pops up in spring and develops into large, flat, thick clumps that spread widely, crowding out surrounding lawn grass and other plants. Because it's an annual, crabgrass dies after the first frost in autumn, which leaves behind patchy,…

Pilot files intellectual property lawsuit against Delta

By Kelly Yamanouchi, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Troy Warren for CNT A pilot has filed suit against Delta Air Lines, alleging the company stole his idea for a text messaging platform used by crews. The messaging app, which was rolled out in 2018, is used by gate agents, flight dispatchers, pilots, flight attendants and other workers who hustle to get planes out on time. They text updates on the status of everything from cleaning, catering, fueling and loading bags. It replaced a decades-old mish-mash of communications by two-way radios, jetway phones, word of mouth and jaunts down the jet bridge to relay messages, according to Delta.…

Broken phones and tech at the center of Biden’s right to repair debate: What’s going on now

Jason Cipriani | CNET.Com Troy Warren for CNT The next time your dishwasher breaks or you crack the screen on your phone, you just might be the one fixing it instead of spending a fortune on an authorized repair. It's happened to all of us at some point: That moment where you drop your smartphone, and your stomach turns as you watch it tumble to the floor. Then there's the split-second moment of suspense as you pick it up, praying it's still all in one piece. And if you see a crack, your next thought is usually, "How much is…

Richard Branson Shares “Extraordinary” Space Flight With Stephen Colbert on ‘The Late Show’

BY TRILBY BERESFORD | HollywoodReporter.Com Troy Warren for CNT The 71-year-old entrepreneur arrived shoeless for his interview on Tuesday. Richard Branson dropped by The Late Show on Tuesday to briefly discuss his recent blastoff into space. “Welcome back to the cool green hills of Earth,” said host Stephen Colbert, welcoming the shoeless Branson to the interview couch. The English entrepreneur, 71, boarded his own rocketship on Sunday and hurtled into space with five crewmembers from his Virgin Galactic space tourism company. “At any point did you think this was not a good idea…?” Colbert asked his guest as they examined footage from the flight. Branson explained that…

2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring: Wingless Wonder

2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring: Wingless Wonder

BY DEREK POWELL | CarAndDriver.Com Troy Warren for CNT Porsche's GT3 Touring is not as subtle as it looks. If you relish the 9,000-rpm scream of a naturally aspirated flat-six but otherwise want to turn down the volume on the Porsche 911 GT3 experience, the $163,450 Touring is the GT3 for you. Otherwise mechanically identical to the brilliant, winged GT3, the Touring offers the same sound and fury in a (slightly) subtler package for the exact same price. As with the previous generation, the primary difference between the GT3 Touring and the exhibitionist version is the absence of a rear wing. To create downforce, the Touring…

Popeyes Is Adding Sandwich-Inspired Chicken Nuggets to the Menu

By Mike Pomranz | FoodAndWine.Com Troy Warren for CNT The new nuggets use the same recipe as Popeyes' trendsetting chicken sandwich. If you were alive during the summer of 2019, you couldn't avoid Popeyes Chicken Sandwich mania. After four decades without a chicken sandwich, America's third largest chicken chain finally launched one, and the new item quickly sold out across the country — leaving other brands playing catchup (or at least trying to ride the sammy's crispy coattails). But while many people were wondering, "Where can I find the Popeyes Chicken Sandwich?" other questions began to emerge like "Wait, Popeyes didn't already have a chicken sandwich?" and…

Bermuda and zoysia grass are soft underfoot

By Walter Reeves, For the AJC Troy Warren for CNT Q: We have a play set in the sun for our toddler. The soil underneath is dry and cracking. What would you recommend to put there so she can crawl and not get eaten up by ants or cut by mulch? Rachel Galen, Dunwoody A: You have two choices: zoysia sod or Bermuda sod. Either would work. I asked my 9-year-old friend Gabe to evaluate the feel of Emerald zoysia on his feet in my neighbor’s lawn and he reports it is very soft. There are other fine-bladed zoysias available besides Emerald. Any…
