Reasons range from not liking the wardrobe choice to Disney ‘trying to destroy fabrics of our society’

Poor Minnie. All she wanted to do was update her wardrobe, and now she’s the topic of outrage in the Twitterverse.

But why are people so upset that a fictional Disney character will wear a pantsuit during Disneyland Paris’ 30th anniversary celebration? The reasons range from not liking the wardrobe choice to the company “trying to destroy fabrics of our society.”

The most vocal opponent to Minnie’s blue suit was Candace Owens, who, while speaking with Jesse Watters while on his show, “Jesse Watters Prime Time,” claimed the suit was a distraction.

“They are taking all of these things that nobody was offended by. It’s like they have to get rid of them and destroy them because they’re bored. You know, they’re absolutely bored,” Owens said. “They’re trying to destroy fabrics of our society, pretending that there’s issues so everybody looks over here. “Look at Minnie Mouse. Don’t look at inflation, Jesse. Look at Minnie Mouse.” The world is going forward because you’ve got her in a pantsuit. Never mind that you can’t get anything at the grocery store, and you can’t buy a piece of bacon unless you’ve got $30 in your pocket. At least we’re addressing the real problem, which is Minnie Mouse.”

Owens wasn’t the only person to link the mouse’s pantsuit to a left-wing conspiracy or a resemblance to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Here are some tweets we could actually include. Many, both pro and con, contained language not suitable for publication.

Most, however, just didn’t like the outfit.

Others were quick to point out this isn’t the first time the ever-stylish rodent has sported trousers.

The wardrobe update is celebrate Women’s History Month and the 30th anniversary of Disneyland Paris, with the new look designed by Stella McCartney.

And, despite some online comments, Minnie isn’t ditching all of her dresses. In fact, Disneyland Paris released a video showing new outfits for Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Daisy and all the Disney characters.
